The Specific Projects:

The following projects have either recently been done or are ongoing.

Research Project: "The Psychology of International Arbitration in the Energy Sector".

Prof. Flader's cooperation partner is the lawyer Sophie Nappert, London, arbitration. We are currently building an international network for the exchange of experiences with representatives from different academic disciplines. The results of this research will be used to develop advanced training workshops for arbitrators and models for consultation.

Bullying Research.

In his forthcoming book, "The Social Presence of the Unconscious" Prof. Flader develops a theory of bullying on the basis of psychoanalytic interpretations of different concrete cases of bullying. The focus is on the description and explanation of attempts to overcome narcissistic disorders of social interactions in different institutional contexts. For his research Prof. Flader has brought a team together including the director of the Office for Bullying Consultation in Berlin/ Brandenburg, Mrs. Monika Hirsch- Sprätz, who is responsible for the systemic perspective on bullying, and the lawyer Ralf Müller-Amenitsch, who has specialized in cases of bullying. The synthesis of these competences has enabled the team to develop and conduct workshops. The workshops focus on the manager's responsibilities regarding bullying. The goal of the workshop is to demonstrate effective means of intervention and prevention through practical exercises.

Research Project "Integrity and Spirituality of Managers and Entrepreneurs ".

This project started in 2007 on the initiative of Prof. Dr. H. Frech in cooperation with Dr. Barbara Strohschein. 30 guideline-interviews were conducted, the data of which will be analyzed and the results published by Prof. Flader and Dr. Strohschein. This project is based on the experiences which Dr Strohschein has made as a coach in her philosophical practice for entrepreneurs and managers. In addition, she relies on her concrete experiences in spiritual processes of instruction as well as on her knowledge of current developments in the field of spirituality in Europe.

For these ongoing projects we are still looking for supporters.

  Finished projects:

Research Project: "Intercultural Conflicts of Social Actions".

On the basis of interviews and according to the qualitative research approach, Prof. Flader has developed a method that uses the complaints western managers in Poland made about the locals as a research instrument. With this instrument he was able to identify relevant cultural differences and reconstruct the existing social action conflicts between western managers and locals. His research applies functional pragmatics, psychoanalysis and cultural theory. His results have been implemented in advanced training seminars in Poland as well as in Germany. In cooperation with Dr. Sigrun Comati, who has worked as a sworn translator of Bulgarian for German businesses in numerous business negotiations in Bulgaria and Romania, these seminars have been expanded to accommodate the south-eastern part of Europe.

Research Project "The Valuation and Devaluation of Human Beings"

Dr. Strohschein has been working on this subject since 2000. On behalf of the Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy in Hamburg, she published the study "The Valuation and Devaluation of Human Beings" in 2000. This study was accomplished with the help of selected publications concerning gene technology, globalization, human capital, and media. Dr. Strohschein subsequently developed a research program on the subject "The Valuation and Devaluation of Human Beings in Violent Conflicts with the Example of Kosovo and Rwanda." Cooperation partners: Prof. DR. Flader, Prof. Dr. Kum'a Ndumbe III, (FU Berlin) Prof. Dr. W. Eberwein (WBZ Berlin). Her work on other research projects led Dr. Strohschein to construct a consultation model for the philosophical practice of social values "cor amati", which she founded in 2006 and in which she has worked as a coach for individuals and teams.
